As someone who merely dabbles in editing, photopea has been a pretty good tool that feels a little more intuitive than gimp. It’s browser based which means it takes up less space than gimp too. It’s like $50 for a year’s license

It’s so funny that all the people hooting about “parents rights” suddenly don’t have to held accountable for their bad decisions. You wanted to be able to make decisions about your kids w/o their input, you don’t get to place the blame on them when they eventually decide your decisions sucked

I believe people like this are wonderful. Sometimes refusing to not be a part of or leaving makes a huge statement. Trans rights are not a distraction. They called Dem politicans out on it. Maybe if people stood up to them and show the world you stand for human rights, you would get more behind you

If I want one thing from my intermittent fame, it is to be as fondly remembered as Peter Lorre was; a staunchly pro-union actor who animators kept putting in cartoons as way of middle finger to their bosses. I can think of no greater honour.

It's hard not to notice that an inordinate amount of energy is being invested by the Ohio Democratic Party in shutting up LGBTQIA+ people rather than simply getting their politicians to apologise for saying things that sucked. One gets the feeling that this is bigger than just two Ohio politicians.

Would be a great time for prominent dems to push back on this and use this as an opportunity to highlight how republicans are obsessed with policing people’s bodies instead of dealing with the affordability crisis. Would be a huge win to show support for your trans constituents. Alas…

Arienne Childrey resigns as Vice Chair of the Ohio Democratic Pride Caucus. The state party has censored all attempts to criticize Amy Acton and Marcy Kaptur for their anti-trans votes and/or statements.

Today, I resigned as Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. The state party expects us to be a sales team, censoring our voices when we beg candidates not to trade on trans lives. I am still a Democrat, but I will not value party approval over true, defiant advocacy. Full text below. 👇
Part 1 of an open letter of resignation by Arienne Childrey, stepping down as Vice Chair and member of the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Pride Caucus. She states that party leadership treats the caucus as a recruitment and sales team rather than a representative body. She cites an incident where the ODP censored and denied permission for the caucus to post a letter by two trans leaders addressing harmful comments made by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. The State Party Chair reportedly called the letter an "unwelcome distraction," which Childrey notes demonstrates how little party leadership values the voices and dignity of LGBTQ+ Democrats.
Since that decision, every Caucus plan, every potential post, and every path forward has been filtered through a lens of strict compliance and ODP approval. That may very well be the party's rule, but following those rules right now is a dereliction of our duty to the LGBTQ+ community.

For me, any rule that silences advocacy for the trans community during this time is an unjust rule, and I see no obligation to follow it. In alignment with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in his Letter from Birmingham Jail:

“One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”

We are living in incredibly dangerous times for the trans community. We are in an era where the GOP has so thoroughly weaponized trans lives that even some formerly self-professing allies within our own party have fallen prey to the rhetoric. Looking at the national trend towards Democratic anti-trans triangulation, as well as our own internal conversations, it is clear to me that this shift is much more than a simple coincidence.

We have to speak up—loudly, strongly, and unapologetically—or I fear what our 2028 choices may look like. The ODP would like everyone to believe they are a "big tent" party. However, their successful efforts to silence even the Pride Caucus—even in cases where we are simply begging our candidates not to trade on our lives for perceived electoral advantage—has proven otherwise. The tent hasn't gotten any bigger; it has simply shifted, leaving many trans individuals, progressives, and allies out in the rain.

I will continue to advocate, organize, and fight for our community with everything I have. But I can no longer compromise my own moral principles by remaining part of a caucus that appears more interested in party approval than in true, defiant advocacy.

Sincerely,
Arienne Childrey

You don’t end up on the losing end of state politics for >30 years without some serious effort (or lack of it). Embarrassing for ODP to kick their pride caucus to the curb then demand they do something to fix the damage. You’ll trash your best chance of winning to kick LGBT+ while they’re down

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a high school basketball game. The home team is down 9 points, and some players are looking discouraged on the bench. The coach points to a player just out of frame and says, “flippers, you’re in!” Panel 2: the away team attempts a deep 2-point shot, possibly to beat the buzzer, which is blocked by Flippers, a whale who doesn’t even have his arms up. Panel 3: the game ends and the home team excitedly crowd around Flippers, who won them the game. A player from the away team looks stunned, with his hands on his head.

A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".
