Alongside the ‘loneliness epidemic’, In Germany, more and more singles are living in flats that are too big, due to poor policy. New forms of housing needed -in the existing building stock-, greater flex, so that people can swap flats from time to time without being subjected to extortionate rents.

Am not an ecologist, but neither is the author of this piece. However, I have NEVER heard any ecologist say this is a good idea. Irish Wildlife Trust, the actual experts, vehemently oppose sheep-wrecking of our sensitive uplands, yet here we are, in 2026.

For those in the Great Lakes & East Coast in the thick of the Canadian wildfire smoke, remember: 1. Wear a N95 mask outside at all times. 2. Limit exposure for humans & pets to outdoors. 3. Create a clean air room with an air purifier. 4. Shower off & wash clothes + hair exposed to smoke.

This is wild. 93% of the renewable electricity generation added to the Irish grid over that last decade now powers data centers, rather than reducing fossil fuel use. Data centers have pretty much annihilated the health and climate benefits those renewables could have provided.
