Data show that the processes underlying T cell homeostasis are affected by age, species, and microbial exposure and even laboratory mice born to wild mice do not capture all age-related changes in T cell maintenance observed in humans. Read more: ow.ly/suoS50ZQ9vK.

This will probably not receive as much attention as some things but this is truly catastrophic. Limiting the K99 to US citizens and Green card holders will be a huge blow to scientific innovation in this country - it is how so many of us got our starts here. I for one would not be here without mine

Aged circulating CD8+ T cells and their secreted factors drive cognitive decline
The role of non-infiltrating aged CD8+ T cells in brain function remains unclear. Sucharov et al. reveal that aged circulating cytotoxic T cells are drivers of age-related cognitive decline. Removal of aged T cells, or their secreted factor granzyme K, rescues cognition in mice. These findings have promise for therapeutics that target immune factors in circulation to restore brain function.
