"Hey is that arrow getting bigger?" - Harold Godwinson, 960 years ago today
That bit of the Bayeux Tapestry where Harold Godwinson gets hit right in the eye by an arrow, allegedly. It's hard to tell whether it's an arrow or a stitch and debate still rages as to how the guy actually died.

Pen, watercolor, pencil, and copic marker.

Our guy is out on the open water at night. Silhouetted against a purplish night sky he paddles a small boat with a single oar through a massive congregation of alligators. He had told the gators earlier that their eyes would sparkle in the moonlight. Reader, he was correct and he lets the gators know. “Gators,” he says. “ I told ya your eyes would sparkle in the moonlight.”

Enjoying the reddish side of the colour wheel lately.
Looking down a residential street lined with cars and trees. It's very early in the morning and the sun is just starting to come up. The sky is a vivid pink and streaked with clouds.A close up of a tree on a residential street. Its leaves are a vibrant and striking medium to dark red.

Saturday. An overcast start to the morning has given way to sunshine. Surprisingly quiet in the cafe, a rather enjoyable change from the usual.

Beautiful Tersa sphinx moth outside today. They’re usually nocturnal, and this one may be older and just running down. But so beautiful. Looks carved of wood.

This beautiful amethyst-tinted serving bottle is made from a type of glass developed during the 1670s that contained a high percentage of lead. This so-called ‘lead-glass’ or ‘crystal’ was much heavier, less fragile and more brilliant than that produced previously in either England or Europe.

August’s selection: “Behind the Squires, Devon”, Hilary Jones Lookability Score: 10/10 Swear Score: 3/10 KLIMT SCORE: 1/5 If I was to imagine the long days of August in picture form, it would be this. Probably because I grew up in a rural area that looked a lot like this.
The completed puzzle. This is a forest scene with birds perched on low branches in the foreground. The ground is covered with grass, plants, and flowers. Thick tree trucks rise up out of the top of the frame . In the background are shafts of sunlight coming through the canopy. In the middle ground to the left are two red foxes peeking out from under some shrubbery.

I don’t think I’m the only person who will appreciate this
Triangular diagram labelled The Introvert
Hierarchy of Needs.

Top: Self-actualisation - A completely empty house. An arrow pointing to the house says “Nobody needs anything. Nobody is coming home for hours. Phone on silent.”

The next level is Esteem - Plans getting cancelled. An arrow here says “‘Sorry, we're going to have to rearrange.’ Oh no. That's terrible. I'm devastated.”

Next level: Belonging - One person you actually like. No group chat. No networking. No "let's go round and introduce ourselves." Just one person you can talk absolute shit with.

Fourth level: Safety - An escape route. Own car. End seat. Knowing exactly when the event finishes. A believable reason to leave early.

Bottom of pyramid: Physiological needs - Being left the fuck alone for a bit. Food. Water. Sleep. 45 minutes where nobody speaks to you.

Ok, Helsinki nedwalkies round 1 : random scenes from downtown. Autumn in Finland is the “blink & you’ll miss it” variety so my timing on this trip was solid, the leaf changes have just started at the botanical garden. 🧵

#BlueSkyArtShow #3rdPlace My 3rd place is the Rottemeren near Rotterdam. Especially in the early morning.
A serene sunrise scene over a calm body of water featuring two traditional Dutch windmills in silhouette on the left shoreline. A thin layer of morning mist hovers over the water and distant trees. The sky is filled with soft pink, orange, and blue hues, crisscrossed by bright airplane vapor trails, with the warm pastel colors reflecting on the water's surface.
