Three years ago tonight, I was in the presence of the most remarkable supercell thunderstorm that I have ever had the privilege of witnessing. For over an hour, I watched it dance beneath the starts, spinning like a top. Mother nature will never cease to amaze, inspire, and humble me.

It is opening day for the Oklahoma State Fair! Nine of my photos earned ribbons in the photography competition, with 1st places in the categories of weather, international, and aerial, and 2nd place in birds. #Photography

Just re-watched Godzilla Minus One for the first time since seeing it in theaters and, wow, its still just as good a second time. Genuinely one of the better films in recent years....and I am saying that as someone who never cared at all about Godzilla before this.

Happy #CloudAppreciationDay! I do appreciate me some clouds. This here is the bell-shaped updraft of a monster thunderstorm near Etowah, OK back in April 2023. The storm produced 9 tornadoes, including two sets of twins.

Allow me to make the case for why calcite should not only earn your vote but win the tournament. Calcite is the mineral with the most forms, is highly fluorescent & phosphorescent, helped explain the wave nature of light, laid the foundation for optics/polarizers, and even calms an upset tummy. A 0.8-mile-wide, dust-eating tornado and its supercell structure just north of Morton, TX on 05-23-2022. A locked gate across the road prevented me from getting any closer, but even through all the dust from this distance, its size was staggering. #Photography

Every state has the potential to surprise you, and Indiana did just that with Turkey Run State Park. I ended up spending a couple hours hiking the trails through canyons, over waterfalls, across muddy logs, alongside a river, etc. Screaming children aside, it was absolutely perfect.
