donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I tell you what, the roller coaster this puzzle took me on at the last minute made me want to get out into the woods for a good long walk. This one brought up lots of happy memories of doing just that, for hours at a time. I didn't fully appreciate it at the time (do we ever?) but how lucky I was. 000
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I thought I'd solved it when I realized the daisy piece actually fitted horizontally and not vertically. Only to discover I was STILL missing a piece! (Help me, bag of border pieces. You're my only hope.) And lo, a hearty huzzah! was sounded when it was brought forth. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It’s distinctive, what with the bright white flowers and where they’re appearing on the piece. And there is definitely no spot remaining where that piece goes. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026True to form, as I neared the end I was fretting about a potential missing piece. At the bottom, to the right of the group of four showing a yellow flower, is a single piece that’s mostly while petals and a yellow centre (kind of like a daisy). 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026More woodland wildlife (although that frog looks like a crocodile at this point, doesn’t it?) 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Even when there are a bunch of completed sections on the board, somehow it doesn’t feel like I’ve made progress. But when they start coming together you can suddenly find that you’re actually halfway done. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026But for whatever reason I couldn’t find that connection here, and I felt I was definitely at a point where it should have been obvious. Past it, actually, as I’d already been moving bits around and standing up and moving around the board to change my perspective. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026By this point I was wrestling with how and where these two sections connected to each other. I find that eventually I stop finding pieces I’m looking for because I’ve built up enough sections on the board, and the solution is that those sections have to be put together. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Despite the slow start, progress picked up by the one week mark. I did realize even at this early date that determining orientation was going to be a bit of a challenge. The foxes were a handy guide in that respect. At least I knew I had that particular section going the right way. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Another woodland creature sighting! Isn’t this an adorable pair? They’re clearly taking a ‘wait and see’ approach to this whole puzzle business. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I wouldn’t say this was a flying start (two days separate this image from the one previously) but it is a solid one. I do like those branches circling around the trucks. They add a very tactile element to the picture, no? 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026And we’re off! With this puzzle it was all about the patterns as opposed to the colours. The stripes forming the bark of the trees stood out, especially the grey shades, so that’s where I started. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026(3) A third version of (2) that’s a hybrid of square and rectangular (chaotic neutral) Lastly (but not pictured here) there's (4) Random Cut (aka Chaotic Evil). (Not a surprise that the two puzzles I did with random cut pieces have been Klimts.) 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026In the puzzles I’ve done so far the pieces have been cut in one of four ways, three of which are in this one. (1) Square and rectangular (lawful good) (2) Same as (1) but slightly smaller (lawful neutral) 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I spent many a happy summer hour wandering the woods so it was a no brainer this puzzle jumped out at me. 100
donnaEhm @donnaehm.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It wasn’t uncommon to see deer, rabbits, and yes, a fox or two wandering across our backyard. There was a small pond further back and if you kept walking, you’d come out into a wide meadow that had some apple trees. 100
