Even if the Tories were never going to support this, surely it's smarter politics to wait until the terms of reference are announced, demand FPTP be an option, and then refuse to take part when that demand is refused. This approach instead just removes their voice from the discussion entirely.

Another appeal, which he's v unlikely to win, but the whole point is the generation of these headlines and the normalisation of the claim that homophobia is protected under the Equality Act.
