Kirk made a mistake that undoubtedly cost lives and gave Khan a chance for a near-crippling first strike, but then he shows why he's such a respected officer in Starfleet, immediately finding his window and striking back. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

I watched this on a huge TV with friends. In fact we watched the entire 6-part first arc of DS9 season 6. After the buildup, when that Klingon fleet came pouring into the battle everyone cheered. It was quite a moment. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

20 years since I made a somewhat panicked phone call to a taxi office saying I needed to be at a wedding in half an hour and it happened to be my own. No idea where two whole decades went but here we are! Huge thanks to @georgiacooked.bsky.social for the fabulous picture commemorating the occasion.

I see the usual crowd can’t quite grasp the idea that you can be suspected of something, then investigated and found not to be doing that thing, but that livestreaming yourself doing things makes that investgative outcome a tad less likely….

Neelix was not well received at the start. But then he confronted both the man responsible for the death of his family and the destruction of an entire settlement, and his own shame about his part in the war, and Ethan Phillips delivers the goods. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

Star Trek opens its big screen adventure really showing off the visuals and the Klingon cruiser looks amazing. Jerry Goldsmith's Klingon motif would be reprised a few times, most notably in Star Trek V and First Contact. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

This one I recall vividly from when it was first shown on BBC2 back in 1991, especially the saucer section melting away as it hurtles towards the screen. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

@sihart.bsky.social's thread on STIII prompted tonight's #TrekMoments, with what apparently began as a genuine goof during a rehearsal was agreed by actor and director to show Kirk's loss of composure at the news of his son's death, and boy does it work well. #StarTrek60

Reading through the Doctor Who production Diary: The Troughton Years, is really bringing home how close to the wire production was in the latter half of season 4. Episodes were being transmitted a few hours BEFORE the next one had even been recorded! There was literally nothing 'in the bank'.

Harris Yulin gives a stunning performance as a Cardassian trying to force his people to atone for their crimes. He is terrifying when he's pretending to be a war criminal, but when his ruse is uncovered his final breakdown gets me. Every. Single. Time. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

The first and best destruction of the Enterprise, this one feels like the plot has genuinely led us there, and is truly impactful. And it is visually stunning, fully practical explosions and a destroyed model ship. No other time they destroyed a hero ship had this impact. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

Star Trek gets a reboot in 2009 and the Enterprise is the undisputed hero of the spaceways. This moment had me punching the air in the cinema as it drops out of warp to save Spock by blasting all the Narada's torpedoes. Shame the ship was so badly abused in the next movies. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

Garak and Julian's relationship is never more deeply expressed than in this scene and they don't even talk to each other. Garak is as open and vulnerable about his past as we have ever seen him, and he allows Julian to be there for it. My favourite scene with these two. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

OK, it's not the best entry in the series, but I've come to rather like Star Trek V, and the scene of Sulu and Chekov trying to avoid admitting that the helmsman and navigator got themselves lost always made me laugh. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

Enterprise gets the crap beaten out of it. And, thanks to improved visual effects, remains a battle-scarred wreck the rest of the series. The Xindi season was clumsily plotted but the stakes and the toll it took on the characters felt higher than in any other series. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

They'd only been in one episode before, only Q's intervention saving the Enterprise. The scenes discussing the threat reminded us how powerful they were, so Picard's simple statement: 'we have engaged the Borg', coupled with an amazing score, make this moment land hard. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

OK, it's not referred to as 'The Motionless Picture' for nothing. The entire first view of the refit Enterprise takes over six dialogue-free minutes to play out, but the moment we get the first head-on sight of it and Jerry Goldsmith's theme bursts in is a wonderful moment. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

That they chose to deliver the news of Lal's imminent death via a character introduced as another antagonist who threatened Picard's command, and show him so obviously deeply affected by the experience of witnessing Data trying to save her, was incredibly effective/ #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

Another Trek moment: I remember watching 'Year of Hell' with friends as a teenager and we were all stunned when the deck 5 blowout occurred, leaving a huge gash in the hull of the ship that remained for the rest of the two parts. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments

So with Star Trek's 60th on us I thought I'd post some random moments I love from across the various series. Not sure how many I'll do but I'm going to start with the saucer separation from 'Encounter at Farpoint'. They really went all out showcasing this new capability. #StarTrek60 #TrekMoments
