Sounds to me like the worst possible outcome from the Supreme Court ruling is about to transpire. Leaving aside the indignity for trans people, how is your local community centre, swimming baths, pub or restaurant going to police this to prevent bad faith actors suing them.

I will never not understand how a minority of people have decided that wind farms - significantly prettier than pylons, coal power plants, nuclear power plants, and almost certainly fusion power plants - are ugly. In terms of energy generation, what else are you hoping for that is better?

it honestly feels like there’s a section of the media which just wants an endless Westminster soap opera, while salivating over Farage’s every word without ever holding him to the same standard as others, rather than anyone fixing anything ever

It's a mark of what's gone wrong with British politics that it's regarded as some kind of career-ending humiliation when a govt has to make concessions to Members of Parliament. We'd be much better governed if MPs found their backbones more often, & govts routinely had to respond to their concerns.

⛽️ Petrol is the cheapest it’s been in real terms since 2001, but no govt has gotten credit for freezing fuel duties. 1. It’s an implicit carbon subsidy - so much for Net Zero - and 2. it penalises city-dwellers. Excellent piece from @tomcalver.bsky.social here: www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

What I cannot work out is *why* Labour thinks saying "It was right to cut Winter Fuel Allowance last year and it's right to reinstate it this year because circumstances changed so much" Is better than "We listened to you, we got it wrong, we've fixed it, and we're sorry".

This is what it's like to live in a racist society. If the perpetrator is white, they're just some lone madman whose actions have no political implication. If they're an immigrant - in particular a dark-skinned Muslim immigrant - they represent their group and are part of a political attack.
