still odd how giant new zealand outlets like 1NEWS report on a story like this, going out of their way to minimize webworm's involvement. to be clear: we led the reporting, & there WOULD BE NO REPORTING if we hadn't broken the story after a year of research: www.webworm.co/multiverse/

Jacinda was an amazing leader whose last term was derailed by a foreign disinformation campaign and a very vocal minority of anti-science conspiracy morons. Her replacement as Labour leader, Chris Hipkins, is a massive step down IMO.

"You know what the average centre-right voter will pick in the next election, after X years of this shit pudding we've had from the right? A slightly blander shade of shit pudding" said every milquetoast leader of Labour (UK)/Labor (AU)/Labour (NZ)/Democrat (US)/Liberal (CAN).

We've just heard the terribly sad news that Phil Gifford has passed away. Chris Bourke says, "Gifford was a giant in New Zealand journalism for half a century...What is missing from the reports of his unexpected death, on Tuesday, aged 79, is that he was also one of NZ’s best music writers... 🧵

Nothing angers me more than when a rich person says they are happy to be taxed more and people say “why don’t you write a check to the government” motherfucker they want everyone in their tax bracket to also write a check to the government because that’s how maths works you fucking numpty.

We're coming out of the cold months here in Aotearoa, and it's been my greatest joy over winter to hop back into bed after turning the heater on in the lounge and just lie there absorbing the warmth. I may have fallen asleep once or thirtence too.

Florence Pugh has an eloquent, fierce post on Instagram re Cornell College - & a question very relevant to New Zealand’s judicial system: “Those that protect and lightly sentence men that rape and destroy, should be punished and watched closely. Why are you protecting someone that fiercely?” #nzpol
Florence Pugh (Instagram):

I'm no longer tired- I'm enraged by schools protecting boys, in fear of their futures being wrecked. What about the life that those girls then have to endure, with the knowledge that his reputation is more precious than her truth?
Or to feel that no one with the power to do something cares that you were abused. It's further soul-destroying.
Those that protect and lightly sentence men that rape and destroy, should be punished and watched closely. Why are you protecting someone that fiercely?

There's no reparation that can compensate for 26 years, but I hope all the victims - the people falsely imprisoned and their families, the families of the murder victims who still don't have closure, and the people who were forced to lie in court - extract a massive cost from NZ police.

This is absolutely fantastic. As Chlöe says, politics is just a game to some politicians. A way to exert power and line themselves up for comfortable well paid jobs in the future. They can’t fathom that not everyone is like them. This shouldn’t come as a shock but I’m voting ✅✅ @greens.org.nz

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

I wrote this soppy poem about 5 days into our relationship. Anyway, today is our 7th anniversary so, turns out you *can* just look at someone and know.
Praising with Faint Damnation
How to be sure of anything at twenty-two?
I don’t know why they let us do anything. How
do you look at someone and know except
that she keeps joking about not being silver enough
for my metaphors and I'd say she was a moonbeam anyway.
I'd call her starlight enough times for it to make us all sick.
You can never know how you'll look back, only: she keeps
cities in her pockets, points out a newly built spire, light
catching a window and glinting across the whole street.
Surely it's easier with age, tell me you know how to be.
I'm afraid I'm here with all my embarrassments tucked into
my armpits. Here I am shouting across the street like Catullus:
I hate and I love! Yeah, buddy, don't we all. You know
I nearly got hit by six different cars on the way to our first date
ran the whole way there. I guess
there are some things worth reminding yourself to live for
and its coffee and graveyards from here on out.
it's the sheer unfiltered joy of waving to your regrets
and catching a train. I've got nothing figured out,
I'm here.two white people smiling at the camera. One has short curly hair, a tattoo of a book across their chest, a slight overbite and a grey blue jacket, next to them is a long-straight haired brunette in a green dress and glasses
