My ritual election year visit to true blue Merivale Mall today revealed a doomy vibe as if the Bolshevik hordes were already through the gates. The usual brutish surety was nowhere to be seen.

The NZ Govt travels the world telling people how they take their climate commitments seriously. But at home they dismantle every policy that constrains emissions and subsidise more emissions. So we've joined international efforts to hold them to account. www.greenpeace.org/aotearoa/pre...

Journalism 101 at a minimum: - What’s the political and work background of the founders/board/CEO? - Where are they getting the money to set up this organisation? - How much money? - Background and political bent of funders - Publish it NZ media often omits this, letting extremists gain cred.

Regular reminder that the 'shrink the state' ghouls (that get it) have a simple goal - to ensure that the few benefit most from the resources that belong to the many. The TPU run 'psy-ops'; plain and simple. They use lies and manipulation to turn the people against public and shared ownership.

So MBIE officials recommended spending less, but targeting the money towards local music festivals. And Louise Upston chose to spend much more, but hand it all to multinational companies and overseas artists.
They reveal MBIE’s reasoning as to why it advised the government against investing in concerts, including a lack of “wider benefit opportunities” and “no international brand visibility”, though it said many countries, including Australia and Malaysia, offer concert funds. Instead, MBIE suggested funding local music festivals with a smaller, discrete, one-off fund. This is advice which Upston also seems to have ignored; late last year, the long-running music festival Splore called it quits, saying its $240,000 funding request had been denied.
