This is absolutely fantastic. As Chlöe says, politics is just a game to some politicians. A way to exert power and line themselves up for comfortable well paid jobs in the future. They can’t fathom that not everyone is like them. This shouldn’t come as a shock but I’m voting ✅✅ @greens.org.nz

(Most) NZ’ers take this for granted, but from perspective of someone who has only ever known democratic deficit, backsliding, & decay - this is v. special, and so wonderful. There’s something sacred about elections, & exercise of franchise only those who have suffered loss of both appreciate. #nzpol

Studied Ansell's livestream. Targeting of MPs Paul, & Verrall was coordinated. Anti-vaxxer Barry Young on stage levelling accusations of mass murder, an associate heckling on cue, Ansell narrating for online redistribution. This wasn't just heckling, but a production designed for viral replication.

This morning I spoke to RNZ about the problem of insecure work at our universities. Research staff across the country are made to work under perpetual fixed-term contracts with no clear route to secure jobs. www.rnz.co.nz/national/pro...

What's driving the growth of "Frankenjobs" in our universities?
Researchers working in the university sector say their fixed term contracts are more like "Frankenjobs", pieced together with short term funding and limited hours.

Obviously nothing has pissed me off quite as much as them killing the Marsden Fund (👉 my 📌 post), but govt claiming that the Science Investment Plan does not cut funding when the plan itself says “core science and research funding is projected to decline in future years” was the icing on the cake.

Luxon wants to ‘brutally commercialise’ science, but cuts threaten its foundation

Didn’t know pregnancy scans aren’t free in NZ! That’s nuts. I had my baby in the UK and had lots of scans as doctors were worried she didn’t have enough amniotic fluid. Would have been awful to not be able to check her progress because of cost. And yes, I’m aware that happens in places like US.
