If they let each slot into tapestry room for 40 mins then cleared the room out, you'd probably not feel quite as short-changed, but that would necessitate fewer ticket sales, and as you say, fewer paying customers. Queuing so long probably makes some want even more time at the glass in return, too.

The flow wasn’t particularly slow - Much quicker and you’d be glancing rather than looking at the tapestry - so I don’t think it can be entirely blamed on poor behaviour/lingering. From a nerdier POV, love to know if somebody just popped a decimal point in the wrong place or something.

Saw it the other day. A little under 2 hours from time slot to gift shop, but I was prepared for a wait and, being able to see it from about 5ft for a large chunk of the queue helped. I am, though, intrigued by how they got the “queue science” so wildly wrong- it’s three times what they envisioned!

That the tituli of their faux tapestry are not even written in Latin is yet another sign of the collapse of the modern Conservative Party

Are any Labour MPs going to have the nerve to say so publicly? If a Conservative Home Secretary had issued the statement Shabana Mahmood has put out today they'd be able to find their voices. So why not now?

I think once black clad men are interfering with rescues at sea, we are past "legitimate concerns". Once they're attacking boats, and risking the lives of everyone on board, it's just thuggery. The Home Secretary's statement is on the side of criminals. There's no other way to read it.

The complete and total collapse of state function in the face of far right extremists. It is frankly ludicrous that Daniel Thomas continues to be at large given the series of crimes committed which he has literally filmed.

On Andy Burnham's sudden bout of shyness. thecritic.co.uk/sanc...
The close of his statement was an appeal to our better natures. If we were going to ask Israelis and Palestinians to live side-by-side, he said, Britain also had to be a place where “people of all faiths and none have a right to live without prejudice or fear.” Listening to him was Andy Burnham, who has been strangely absent from our public debate for the last few days. In August, we couldn’t move for social media clips from the prime minister, standing on a ladder to discuss his first job, or sitting in a pub to rate bar snacks. But faced with masked thugs trying to shut down British ports over the weekend, Burnham seems to have lost the password for his phone. For a decade now, Britain has had a series of leaders apparently paralysed by the fear that if they say that racism is bad, they’ll be voted out. It would be nice to get one who had a slightly higher opinion of us.

I think the worst part of Labour's response to the fascist mobilisation is Andy Burnham's absence. He's the most popular politician in the country, with social media reach and actual powers of persuasion, and he's saying nothing in public. He can actually be of use here but he's choosing not to

2) and 3) are intimately linked, in that the BBC (the organisation that really matters in the modern environment) treats 'claims by rival parties' as the operating frame for how it covers everything. The failure from Labour and the Conservatives to say 'this stuff is bad' is really, really bad.

There probably are a few too many vape shops compared to demand, and phoenixing etc is an issue, but the barbers thing is, I think, the clearest example that at least some of this phenomenon is just racism.

I wish media outlets would describe Nathan Cofnas as a racist rather than a "self-defined race realist" which doesn't mean anything to most people. His writing meets any definition of racism however narrowly and cautiously drawn.
