also because of traffic "engineers" we have guardrails to protect drivers when they go off the road and there's a hazard to them (eg, cliffs), but when pedestrians are at risk there's no metal in the way that would scratch the car's paint

There is a rumor that the Federal Govt will be proposing a ban of bicycles on National Highway System (NHS) roads. To be clear, this is not the freeway system, and not even just the *state* highway network, but bigger still than that. Here is the map of the bay showing all NHS roads.

Just a reminder it is cheaper to go 30km an hour over the limit in a residential neighbourhood ($324) in a jacked up F-150, than it is to go too fast on the pathway on a bike. Also seems that a bell on a head unit is not a bell, or so I am told. I accept responsibility for my sins. #yycbike

The Pike Place pilot project is supported so universally (98%) that it looks like a North Korean election result. Only @transportation.seattle.gov can look at that and decide it needs to be scaled back.

30-year-old drug convictions are enough to get tourists to the US arrested by masked thugs and, if they survive, thrown into concentration camps while waiting deportation to a country they've never before seen. If anything, the U.K. system of telling you in advance seems like a courtesy.
