We have ~4,930 parking spaces spread across 55 acres on the Ball Arena property in downtown Denver... Kind of crazy that this same land will someday have: ▪ 6,000 homes ▪ >10M sq. ft. of mixed-use ▪ >10 acres of parks ▪ & probably a bunch of parking too Plus, the Ball Arena isn't going anywhere.

At the last TRB conference, I presented about how we need to rethink our metrics for success when it comes to street design In that presentation, I highlighted Park Ave in NYC as an example of what our measures must've been focused on (to make us believe that these changes were a good idea)

Nobody should be surprised by this, which is why I noted what this same outlet wrote 4 days ago: "Commute times could double, or even triple, in areas near the construction site. That means rush hour traffic in the morning could start as early as 6:30 am, and evening traffic could last until 8 pm."

A 30-year-old bicyclist was killed after being struck by a pickup truck in Lynn on Monday night, authorities said.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broad Street and Silsbee Street, involving a bicycle and a 2025 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, the Essex County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

The bicyclist was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the DA’s office.

Officials said they are withholding the bicyclist’s identity until his family has been notified, but noted he was 30 years old.

The Lynn Police Department and State Police are investigating the incident.

Authorities did not specify whether charges have been filed or if any arrests have been made.

September Purpose Hour

By Design: Rethinking American Roads

Every road, intersection, and curb in our city was designed by someone, but probably not with you in mind. This month's Purpose Hour pulls back the curtain on how our streets got built, why they're failing us, and what it would look like to actually choose differently.

We drive, walk, and bike our streets every day but most of us have never stopped to ask: who decided our streets should look like this, and why?

Join us for a conversation about the hidden assumptions baked into our infrastructure, the real costs of building cities around cars and speed, and what's possible when communities start making different choices.
