I think you need to push the metaphor even further - AI isn't boxed Mac, it's like the grossest imaginable meal replacement, dubiously food at all, very possibly toxic. We've all had weeks when all we had to feed our congregations was Kraft Dinner or PB&J!

and nobody expects a random layperson with no advanced training to write a sermon. What’s wild to me is why someone who allegedly *has* the training would choose not to use it. If you can make a restaurant-quality meal from scratch, why make the boxed Mac?

Interesting the Trump and his administration can’t tell the difference between the ICJ (the court in The Hague that new Nobel prize winner led) and the ICC - a different court in a different building with different leadership. They really are dim.

Because I know how much you guys love carpeted toilet accessories. Photo from my collection, 1972.
Color photo of a medium haired dilute tortie cat that seems to have Persian blood because it’s face is quite flat. It is looking up at the camera with its permanently, surprised expression. It’s sitting on top of the pink carpeted lid of a cream colored toilet. The tank of the toilet has a matching pink carpeted cover.

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.
ADHD and autism at risk of over-diagnosis, says report, as author warns of rise in mental ill health
Summary
• An official review in England finds there is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with
ADHD and autism - three key findings from the report
• As well as neurodevelopmental conditions, the review looks at mental ill health, particularly in younger people. Our health correspondent explains the difference
• It was commissioned earlier this year after Wes Streeting, then the health secretary, said there was an "over-diagnosis" of mental health conditions
• Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme earlier, review chair Prof Peter Fonagy said Streeting was "with respect, completely wrong"

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Do we know which services will be live streaming the execution? I would like to begin my boycott of them and their advertisers now. The man to be executed is paralyzed. Will he be seated in his wheelchair for this or tied upright to a post? Do we still condemn cruel and unusual punishments?

But we should not set our sights on survival. To survive is not to live. To survive is not to flourish. And we need such extravagant public goods as education and art in order to flourish.

Neither universities nor museums nor opera houses nor concert halls nor, even, theatres, should exist to make profit. They are public goods. To educate and elevate the human spirit, to make us better at being citizens and being humans in society, is a public good! They're not cheese.

As it happens, I think it *is* morally bad to give an LLM inputs that would be cruel if said to a person, but that’s because it’s bad for the person doing the inputs – gets them in the habit – not because it’s “cruel” to the chatbot

And so we're left in this moral and ethical bog where everyone has valid reasons to believe that everyone else is acting in bad faith. But sometimes a verse jumps out from a Jewish prophet who spoke 2800 years ago and hits you over the solar plexus with its clarity.

FWIW people in their 60s can struggle to cope with ADHD as much as people in their teens. Just because they‘ve made it through life to that point doesn’t mean that they don’t need help. If I had been homeless all my life and survived, you wouldn’t say, “oh, well, you clearly don’t need a house.”

90% of how Rubio described “the West” while in Athens (e.g., "fierce individuality,” “relentless ambition”) is just a rehashing of ideas plucked from Ayn Rand. Encouraging people to “ethical egoism” is how we got this level of inequality—which now sits at a higher level than Ancient Athens ever had.

I found that odd phrasing when I read it yesterday, but found myself pondering it during the distribution of Communion last night and whilst I wouldn't limit handling in the way described here, the idea of it being passed via "outsiders" left me deeply uncomfortable...

OR we could gerrymander the problem out of existence. That's no monster, it's just a big blurry cat. More people are asking for services, more people are meeting the criteria - this can only be the work of TikTok. Myths do not require budgetary reform.
