like 3% of the population has a clubbed thumb yet apparently no one has ever considered them in the context of ergonomics. video game controllers, phone size, etc. I am seemingly the only person who has wondered if my constant tendonitis is related to having a thumb that is a half inch short

i have this fantasy that smartphone use and cognitive offloading via LLM will actually be confirmed to produce structural brain changes similar to ADHD and I will withhold access to those things from my future children and thus they will functionally have the same level of ADHD as the normative pop

the thing that bothers me most about the compression of seasons into a few holiday-centric marketing events is that there are SO MANY MORE small seasons. medieval people knew this.

A peasant is depicted harvesting wheat with a scythe (July) and threshing the wheat (August)3 miniatures from the 14th century manuscript known as the Taymouth Hours showing some of the labors of the months. hello I need pedagogy/quiz design tips! If I ask students to write 1-2 sentences is that still short answer? 2-3 sentences? How much time should I allot for these types of questions? I think I have to put a firm time limit in place because they are taking foooorever compared to my ballpark

sometimes I am struck by depressing thoughts like “I bet reading these 6 sentences on Wikipedia is more pedagogy training than a good number of people who are responsible for graduate education ever bother getting”
Skinner suggests that any age-appropriate skill can be taught. The steps are
1. Clearly specify the action or performance the student is to learn.
2. Break down the task into small achievable steps, going from simple to complex.
3. Let the student perform each step, reinforcing correct actions.
4. Adjust so that the student is always successful until finally the goal is reached.
5. Shift to intermittent reinforcement to maintain the student's performance.
