Tidal flooding continues at Virginia's waterfront through tomorrow. Northeast winds and the developing nor'easter make this a long duration flood. Sea level is rising from the warming climate, so these floods are getting worse. Land is also sinking in Norfolk, compounding the problem.

Today I learned that people make food choices based on masculinity, and even though it's: - probably better for their health - better for the environment - reduces impact on animal cruelty - there are starving people in the world ... their sexism-brain might dominate these choices.
More recently, scientists have noticed that these dietary choices are linked to broader beliefs about social dominance. A 2020 study provided empirical evidence that hostile sexist attitudes are strongly tied to the belief that humans should dominate animals and the natural world. Hostile sexism involves negative evaluations of women and femininity, along with the belief that women are inferior to men.

I'd love to hear what the National Weather Service thinks of SMART's abilities. Also, I'd love to know how it's different/better then what NWS already uses and shares with the FAA.
SMART will focus, in part, on forecasting where weather systems are headed rather than simply assessing where they are in real time, Bedford said.
