The central pressure of Hurricane Polo is measured to be 889 millibars. That means more than 11% of the typical atmosphere at sea level is missing from the storm's center. It is the second strongest storm on record in the eastern Pacific Ocean, and one of the strongest in Earth's modern history.

This blocked beam effect is always present, but you almost never see it in all its glory until a big storm hits. It’s quite a site to see! Meanwhile at the top of Mauna Kea it’s snowing ❄️, winds are gusting 💨 to 154 mph with wind chills in the teens 🥶! Snow-cane anyone?? #hurricane #lala
