There are many ways in which every billionaire is a policy failure, but the most corrosive and destructive way in which billionaires are policy failures is this: billionaires, despite being unelected and unaccountable, possess the power to control - and ruin - millions of peoples' lives.

Turnitin steals student writing so it can catch students stealing writing. It requires students to upload papers for free or, even worse, professors upload student papers without their permission to a machine that now owns the paper. No compensation. It's a super fascist ed tech tool.

I hate this so much. The BBC should be providing good quality, good value programmes that the private market won't cover. You and Yours (which I kind of hate), Thinking Allowed and Free Thinking are exactly the sort of programming that the BBC is i) good at, ii) not haemorrhaging money to make.

Our entire society is organized around converting money into power. Sometimes, that is overt, as when the wealthy can indenture or enslave a worker. Sometimes it is more indirect, as when the wealthy can enlist the state to limit union rights and enforce noncompete clauses in labor contracts.
