So now I hear Kyle Chandler’s voice & imagine his in-character body language when I read Green Lantern tales. Which, I will readily admit, makes everything even more fun.

We rewatched the Devo documentary again. First time through it was fascinating. Second time it still felt thoroughly enjoyable & compelling, but also …. am I allowed to say “important” too?

A rather splendid Brian Bolland ad for a Palitoy take on Darth Vader’s T.I.E. Fighter, from Dec 1st 1979’s Look-In. I’ve never seen this particular Bolland take on Star Wars merchandise before, and his ads for the franchise during the period are always fun.

I didn’t even make it through the last Lanterns. There’s a gaping plot hole that I couldn’t swallow. So I thought I was done. Not outraged & betrayed, because that’s how the Mad Fans play. Just a sense of, oh, whatever. But I ended up watching episode 7 & it’s tender, wry & clever. Well, hurrah!

There comes a time when a human being, and by “human being” I mean “me”, accepts the time ahead is less than infinite. There’s alot to chew over at such a moment. But first things first: I’m gathering together all the books I’ve loved & intend to read again. Away with lit-snobbery: what was fun?

Chris Weston posted some pages yesterday from his & Rob Williams’ brilliant 2013 Superman tale “Saviour”. Looking again, I’m struck by how meticulously CW’s layouts carry the eye across the page. It’s done with such masterly skill & emotional heft the reader might not even consciously notice it.

So chance delivered the first Deadpool movie to my TV screen and, origin flashbacks aside, it’s just terrifically good fun. And when there’s X-Men in play, it’s the best Marvel Team Up tale I can recall. It’s so much more enjoyable than it seemed back in the day.
