So (if I understand this correctly), the way AI (companies) will "solve" all the major problems in maths, biology, and medicine in the next 5 years will be by stealing and building on the ideas of researchers naive enough to think their chats with AI companies would be private.

Not really in this case. I had a look at their website and all the lancet & recent stuff has a strong ai pattern. I wonder if they were influenced by ai esthetics or if that's what some customers want. And if so why. Is ai already influencing our preferences, like for text?
