OH MY GOD WHATTTTT??? It’s quite literally romance as horror!!! He locks his wife in the attic because he is embarrassed by her (he starts out embarrassed by her skin color and only later says she started acting “crazy”), he repeatedly sexually harasses his employee & IIRC bribes/threatens her… ETC!

Not encouraging. Thinking Allowed is exactly the type of programme radio 4/podcast that should be produced if the BBC is to mean much and ought to be fairly cheap. I love in our time, which is getting some extra time from… (but right length now if scope for extras). www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

No, but really, outsourcing our own moral discernment to the talking word toaster is not reasonable or ultimately positive for humans so it’s okay. It is a machine. There’s no mortality to it being used as a machine. You don’t remote lock a guy for cussing out his tractor. What are we doing here?

Her translations are also poetry and just astonishing. I loved her Sappho translation (the If… one). And the dramas (mentioned above along with a few of her poetry collections). “Glass and God” was where I started with the poetry. It is all really good.
