It does appear the "data center eliminated Nazi and otherwise fuckface bots" narrative is basically wishcasting, it does show you how popular getting rid of this shit would broadly be, and that maybe a smart person should run on it.

#NZpol For lobbying their account of NZ is entirely negative, featuring the words 'not' and 'no' OECD publication: Anti‑Corruption and Integrity Outlook 2026: New Zealand www.oecd.org/en/publicati...
New Zealand does not have a regulatory framework or implementing measures for managing risks around lobbying. New Zealand therefore does not have a regulatory definition of lobbying or lobbyists, or a designated supervisory authority within the central government responsible for monitoring lobbying practices. Tools for registering lobbying activities are not available, and there is no system in place for disclosing lobbying-related information or investigating cases of non-compliance.

New Zealand does not have a beneficial ownership regulation requiring companies to provide information on the identity of their real owners or to set up a publicly accessible central register.

One of the more obvious problems with Act's plan to force beneficiaries on to a "money management" card, with no cash withdrawals allowed, is that it would preclude exactly this kind of economy. They'd have to use the supermarkets, and pay more.

National ruled out working with the Greens last election. If the Greens worked with National, it would involve going against everything they stand for and snubbing their nose at all their supporters. They would lose all support come next election, bc voters wouldn't trust where they stand.

But also, the Greens have worked with National, though not in a governing arrangement. Home insulation with Nats in govt, Carbon Zero Act was unanimous due to Shaw's cross-party focus. Earlier this year offered their votes to get solar across the line, but rejected by Luxon. Likely others too.
