Soldat, from 2001, is an exceptional documentary and I recommend it at every opportunity. It shows how poorly conscripts are treated and the appalling culture of bullying and abuse; not much seems to have changed. vimeo.com/19720602

Home Secretary made an entirely incorrect claim that the care worker u-turn could cost £10 billion. The likely saving of making them wait 15 years is much smaller. Even the saving of mass forced remigration is next to nothing as lose 30 years of fiscal gains first. Giving the real data would help

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.
