I haven't advertised this in a while so: I also run a blog about Japanese bubble era (1980s to early 90s) aesthetics. If you enjoy retro Japanese style, consumerism, and pop culture (which presumably you do if you follow this account), check out BUBBLISM here: bubblism.jp

Iasmin Omar Ata's official RI-10 cover for IDW's Sonic Winter Jam! sonic stands on center stage, excitedly posing while holding a microphone. behind him is a wall of monitors depicting his friends in their own poses, as well as scenes of them doing seasonal-related activities; cooking snacks, hanging lights, snowball fights, and such. the top monitors show off a chaos emerald, an image of Froggy, and... something else ??? we'll see what happens in the story!

concept art for an upcoming work, showing an awe-struck researcher discovering a glowing eye in the center of caved-in ruins - more to come!

Really good makeshift covers for Dino Crisis I saw at the used game store the other day. Unfortunately I was so scared I had to leave

A simply drawn replacement cover for the game Dino Crisis, featuring a cute dinosaur with two dot eyes. There is an arrow pointing to the dinosaur that says "a literal monster."

one of my favorite things to learn about Yoshi's Island was that some of the most impressive effects in the game weren't even done with the Super FX, they were just HDMA trickery. like Salvo the Slime is made of numerous stacked lines pulled from a triangular background image

A Little Owl is bundled in a baby blue towel on a table with an expression of malcontent. His eyes are squinted and slightly crossed, and match his waxy yellow beak in colour. He appears chinless, recessing his head into his body; eyes at the same level as his shoulders and squashed as though someone had tried resizing him in a Word document and forgot to lock the aspect ratio.
