It is a little disconcerting that so many people who know a lot about LLMs on a technical level appear to go a little insane. It would be like if there was a really cool and effective new kind of pen, and for some reason about 40% of the people involved in the pen making process went mad.

You also need to message external conversations for people who don't already agree with you. Being factually or morally correct doesn't mean that you're going to be successful at being persuasive and you need to have a model for persuasion beyond those things.

One of the things that we need to internalize as progressives of all stripes is that there are internal conversations to be had in private with people who are on the same page that can be productive and there are external conversations where you need to not scare the hoes

I was today years old when I learned Dolly Parton recorded Woody Guthrie's song "Deportee (Plane Wreck At Los Gatos)" in 1980. It's a heartbreaking song about immigration and specifically deportation plane that crashed in 1948 killing dozens of Mexican "bracero" workers. Her version is beautiful💔

For a while, a common dilemma in video game RPGs was "Who do you support, the problematic hypernationalists or the rootless cosmopolitan hypocrites?" and I think it aged poorly seeing how the past decade has pretty conclusively proven the correct answer is "sign up with RCH and get over yourself."

Trump attempted a coup, failed, was allowed to run again, and won. So I'm not confident any of the losers responsible for and taking part in *all this* will ever be properly held to account. This is a country that erected monuments to the losers of their civil war.

I look forward to a lot of very serious legal professionals explaining that US federal employees can never be held liable for any work they do ever but the US Justice system can and must be saved from the Trump admin. This paradox is never examined by people who examine things for a living.
