Speaking several languages could keep your brain up to 13 years younger. Great headline. But what if you can't find the actual study? A small exercise in how to deal with scientific press releases. wp.me/p2nWPo-697

I have succeeded in stopping buying books or anything else from Amazon. It’s easy to give up next day delivery and most books can be found discounted on other websites. More of you should do this.

FIA keep yammering about women in motorsport but nothing gets done. Here's a solution: mandate that every F1 team has to have one male and one female driver in, say, five years, and watch as billions are poured into women's motorsport to unearth and promote talent.

"Every adult is being used for every minute of the day" is an excellent thing to consider for anyone who wants change in schools. The pace and intensity of work in schools is remarkable. It shocks people when they first experience it.

As a parent, I work really hard not to have a favourite child. The long-running cosseting of Andrew is pretty strong evidence that QE2 very much did have a favourite child.

The damage that TwXter has done to British national discourse is obvious when politicians and their advisors talk about DEI and other strongly-US focused talking points. They can't even get the letters in the order we generally use them in the UK.

Jumped on the human-made action figure trend 🐡 Had ALOT of fun making this too.
A cartoony illustration of a doll version of Hana in packaging along with accessories. It’s labelled ‘Hana the Sci-Artist: action figure starter pack’. Doll Hana has her dark curly hair down with streaks of grey, is wearing glasses, an orange cardigan, a blue dress with moths, mushrooms, ferns and crescent moons on it and blue boots. Her accessories include pens and pencils, a glue stick and scissors, a badass science lady badge and a science is not neutral badge with a watermelon on it, a MacBook, a water bottle with dinosaurs on it and two EpiPens and two inhalers. Text bubbles say ‘with EpiPens and inhalers’ and ‘accessories expansion pack available’

I have run out of patience with the apparent silence of most US science institutions (and not just US) in the face of Trump & Musk's rampage. There are of so many facets of that, but in this column for @chemistryworld.com I talk about the assaults on inclusion. www.chemistryworld.com/opinion/scie...

Scientific institutions have a long history of anticipatory obedience
Societies should learn from this and speak up to support inclusion
