TLDR: Toronto can make it easier to build new housing. Not the opposite. Some city people want to frame this as a complicated matter of “collaboration.” It’s not. www.thestar.com/real-estate/...

Olivia Chow and Brad Bradford have big housing ideas. But in Doug Ford’s Ontario, do they have a say?
Planning experts say the city’s role has become more “constrained” under Doug Ford, but it still has some levers to pull — if the premier lets them.

This is a frustrating summary of Midtown in Focus that I don't agree with. The City's plan put most growth into existing apartment neighbourhoods and promised midrise on Avenues, which they then heritage protected. Here are 4 low-rise areas <500 m from the subway/LRT that they capped at 4 storeys.

One thing about people citing slower car travel times on Bloor West following the bike lane install is, well, that was kind of the point. Drivers were **averaging** nearly 20 km/h over the current speed limit at spots. Road revamp has brought speeds closer to limit. www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...
Two bar charts comparing average and 95th percentile vehicle speeds in km/h across five Toronto locations over three time periods (2021/23, 2024, 2025/26), with a posted speed limit of 40 km/h indicated by a dotted line.
