All this. And what's more, the VPD's own data show that in 2022, when they were on a moral panic crusade about crime under Kennedy Stewart, Vancouver had actually seen the biggest 4-year drop in crime of any time period on this chart.

Guys stop saying the drug use plebiscite is cynical electioneering by ABC. It's a Very Important Question that they really want the answer to! The fact that they've plastered the question on every mail out, bus ad, billboard, flyer, and wrapped their campaign office in it is purely happenstance!

The fact that she's so unconcerned with posting this means that she finds it totally normal and routine to use her phone while driving. She is running for school board, so much for keeping kids safe. Genuinely disqualify.

I'm old enough to remember when bringing back the Stanley Park Train was the crowning achievement of Sim's first year in office before it broke down 2 weeks after opening and sent a worker to hospital. Pretty hilarious campaign promise to make in 2026. "Trust us, only we can do this!"

We did a great job in Canada making climate change denial politically toxic. Nice! Unfortunately the government found a new strategy: don't deny, but simply ignore. This strategy is much cleverer, as it's harder to attack. And much more harmful.

In last year's by-election, ABC ran Ralph Kaisers, head of the Vancouver police union, who was under investigation for potentially helping cover up a murder. It seems if you're facing criminal investigation in your day job, ABC offers a nice escape!

I wonder what gives people the impression that Sim doesn't like lower income folks. Is it the street sweeps, the demonization of drug users, removing the city's living wage policy, gutting services people depend on to save property owners a few bucks? No, it must be the buttons confusing people.

ABC platform is out. It's much more populist than I expected. Would do great south of the border. This caught my eye... If there's one thing we've learned from decades of the "war on drugs" it's that doubling down on drug seizures always solves the problem 🙄 abcvancouver.ca/platform/

🚨 MY TAKE 🚨 In Vancouver the mayor is basically a glorified councilor, 1/11 votes. Whatever you think of Fry, having clarity at the top of the ballot is good. If you can't stomach voting for him, fine. You still get to pick from a laundry list of candidates for the other 10/11. The work starts now

I think light industrial space in a city is good. Put jobs close to homes! But I don't understand why we carve out so much industrial space in Kits if all of it is luxury car dealerships. These are boutique stores for the rich with few jobs and no real industrial use. Anyway another is coming!

Between the digital sales tax, the Gordie Howe bridge, and now liquor, seems all Carney does is give away bargaining chips to make deals that are worse than what we had 2 years ago and which Trump will shred any time he wants anyway. Carney is being tougher with his own Premiers than with Trump.

While the larger sidewalks are nice, it's obvious this is where the Broadway active transport lanes should be. The sidewalks will still be right beside loud, high speed traffic. Protected lanes = nice buffer. Also, get ready for hundreds of food delivery ebikes & scooters on these sidewalks.

The new 7th Ave bike lanes in New West are open in both directions and they're fantastic! This was my route to high school back in the day. But after a few too many close calls with drivers, I started riding on the sidewalk. And after getting yelled at a lot, I stopped riding all together.

Conflict between emergency (plus patient /visitor) vehicles and cyclists outside VGH on 10th Ave is a real issue. It was never a good spot for a bike lane. This isn't the solution. Active transport lanes on Broadway fixes all this. Reminder that it passed last term before ABC killed it this term.

Shocker: a councilor who hasn't written a single meaningful motion in 4 years, isn't running for re-election, and lives in Kelowna, thinks that getting through the rest of Council business is too much work. (It's actually not surprising at all, but pathetic that the rest of ABC went along)
