The Shklar Room houses a collection of nearly 1000 volumes in political theory and philosophy, the history of political thought, legal theory, and related fields, including works in those fields by RGCS members and alums and a complete collection of dissertations by RGCS PhD students.

In 2018, Trumpists claimed that the results of the midterms exonerated Kavanaugh, showing that Americans believed he was innocent and indeed that somehow proving that he really was. By that logic a big Dem win will prove that Jack Smith was right all along and Trump was guilty.

This has been a profoundly unserious election campaign in Quebec. Not that elections are typically that serious, but sometimes a crisis focuses the mind, as it did in the federal election last year. The crisis remains, but the Quebec electorate seems bored and has moved on.

I will never get over the absurd arguments people made regarding aesthetics and neighbourhoods to oppose the REM de l’Est. And how cancelling it did not bring about some hypothetical better project. The east end is languishing in long commutes and uncertainty more than four years later.

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.

My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!
