Anonymous sources are bad, says an anonymous source.
Greens do 'things differently', says source over former deputy's criticism
A Green Party source has responded to earlier comments from Caroline Lucas on the party's motion at its conference over the weekend.
They say: "There are ups and downs in politics and when people are passionate they disagree in the heat of a campaign."
The source adds: "We do things differently, unlike Labour who use anonymous sources and resort to factionalism."

For 14yrs, the Tories cratered our economy, added thousands to our cost of living, melted down public services and brexited us into decades of eye-watering expense and lost opportunity. That’s still their plan. With tax breaks for the super rich paid for by welfare cuts. So what TF is this headline?

If you’re reading today’s papers and thinking, did I watch a different Badenoch speech, may I recommend our sanity-restoring review? “The same people who could not build a railtrack from London to Manchester for £100bn, will build the Kemi Death Star for 10bn. It’s so ludicrous as to be offensive.”

The devil must surely be in the detail of this IHT proposal. Badenoch's 'home exempt' announcement gets the thunderous applause but that will rip up the existing rules. What about a scenario of a £2m home & £1m of savings/pension? How much of the latter will be inheritance-taxed in the Kemiverse?

Badenoch's speech was well-delivered and delighted its audience. But many of its arguments don't withstand contact with reality. thecritic.co.uk/mrs-...
A lot of its arguments collapse on contact with reality outside the hall. Is Burnham’s “faffing” really the reason that Heathrow still doesn’t have a third runway? Britain’s tax code certainly has become impossibly long and complicated, but can that all have happened in the last two years? Will turning every house in the country into an inheritance tax vehicle make it simpler? What about different tax rates for people under 25? Was it really the Tories’ triumphant loss of 500 council seats in May that forced the removal of Keir Starmer? And if Labour “don’t get a clean slate just because they’ve changed leader”, why should her own party?

Some lines might have been written by AI: “Don’t let this man fool you with his fluttering eyelashes and his pork scratchings,” Badenoch said of Burnham. I’m a big fan of pork scratchings, and I can tell you that these, the stinkiest of pub snacks, aren’t fooling anyone.

The part of the speech worth quoting at length was her attack on Reform. Its vot

Kemi Badenoch accurately notes that the common sense consensus that black people can be Englsh was pretty settled by the early 1990s. It was being contested vocally by the NF in 1984 (when Barnes scored in Brazil) with the Daily Mail vocal against the NF but much less by 1993 (when Ince was captain)

Kane and Unable: my SKETCH of Kemi Badenoch's decision to conduct her broadcast interviews as a tribute to Jeffrey Archer. thecritic.co.uk/kane...

Kemi Badenoch’s broadcast interviews on Tuesday were a touching celebration of someonewhose extravagant boasts and relaxed relationship with reality won the heart of Conservative members. There was also a lot of discussion of Jeffrey Archer.

The Tory leader opened her chat with BBC Breakfast viewers by talking about the bestselling novelist messaging her only the previous day. She would reply with emojis, she said, and we got an image of a somewhat one-sided chat that allowed Archer to allude to his closeness to Top People. Or Badenoch, anyway.

Not, of course, that the Master Storyteller ever felt constrained by the truth. It was a stellar career built on an instinct for what the audience wants to hear, a gift for “inaccurate precis”, and a willingness, when necessary, to simply say things that weren’t true. Sorry, I’ve completely lost track of who I’m writing about.
