OOF! Opening episode of Celebrity Traitors watched by nearly three million more viewers than the first episode of season one. Drew average audience of 8.9m viewers & 54.9% viewing share. Last year's Celeb Traitors drew an overnight average audience of 6.1m and 46.4% share.

Running the BBC is hard - & god knows there are enough armchair director generals, but... Is anyone going to the BBC website for magazine-style features? If the BBC replaced them overnight with dispatches from its Rolls-Royce overseas reporting bureaus, would it be anything other than a win-win?

The BBC article quoted a beauty journalist who suggested bare nails: “...are often called elegant or tasteful and these are often usually euphemisms that perpetuate white supremacist standards of beauty.” Editors concluded there was no challenge to that view - or enough context

The AI issue that alarms me - models update themselves in training, so engineers don't actually know how its numerical parameters generate particular answers. Parallels with the toxic financial products that spread the Great Recession. Humans lost sight of what's in the box.

Bluesky daily users have fallen a lot since the spring, almost halving - but seems to have stabilised at the current level. Has there been a gravitational pull back to X? Hard to tell without solid X data. EU users have halved since the Musk takeover, but that also seems to have levelled out.

The interesting thing is I don't think Amol was trying to aim a barb with this. Part of the issue the BBC faces is there is now an assumption media changes will keep shrinking it - managed decline. Grappling with that assumption is part of the big challenge Matt Brittin faces.
