Please say no to pesticides and herbicides. Cocktails of these chemicals in fields, gardens, parks, verges and community spaces are poisoning bees, birds, hedgehogs, butterflies, beetles, frogs, damselflies and more, while running off into rivers too. Let's give nature a chance!

Jemima's Garden - Flower Seeds for Wildlife @jemimasgarden.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Last day of our sale today 😊 Anyway, here's a Sunflower, still supporting wildlife at the end of September🌻 In this one shot I've counted 1 Bumblebee, 4 Hoverflies, 1 unidentified bug and at least 8 flies of various species 😍 I don't know who had a good feed on the leaf 😂🐛 #MHHSBD
A big, bright Sunflower with bright yellow petals and a yellow centre.
One leaf is visible that has been munched by someone unknown, probably a caterpillar.
The flower has many different insects visiting and is against a bright blue sky, crossed by a black telephone cable.

29 September is Michaelmas, the feast of St. Michael and All Angels. St. Michael, traditionally the celestial warrior who leads the fight against evil, is patron saint of soldiers, paratroopers and police officers. The Michaelmas daisy, or aster, is his dedicated flower.
Collage of Michaelmas daisies in shades of soft lilac-blue. A small copper butterfly rests with open wings on one flower, while a meadow brown feeds on another. Other images show clusters of the daisy-like flowers, with yellow centres, blooming in the late-summer garden.

Good morning! How are you holding up? What are you up to today? This handsome tree frog (Pacific Chorus Frog) was basking on an Angelica leaf in the garden yesterday. I've started shuffling pots around to get them in position for winter. Today I may pot up some volunteer tree seedlings.
A tree frog with a green outer edge/belly/face and a tan back and legs sits crouched in a large leaf. It has distinct dark eye stripes and some spots and whooshes of dark on his back.

Good morning Let’s celebrate #TheDivers for #BirdOfTheDay today 🪶 Share your fab photos of any diving bird... I’ll start with this adorable Little Grebe🤎 📷 Alt theme: #BirdStare Any bird captured staring right back at you! Happy Thursday everyone! 😊🕊️👋 #Birds #UKWildlife #Photography #ECK
A close-up photo of a Little Grebe swimming peacefully on calm, murky green water. The bird is positioned in the centre of the frame, facing towards the left as viewed, and is captured from a slightly elevated side profile. Its compact, rounded body sits low in the water, and its damp, textured feathers are intricately detailed with tiny droplets of water. The bird's plumage is a soft gradient of brownish-grey tones. Its cheeks and throat are a lighter, warm buff-cream colour with a dark eye and a relatively short, pointed, dark bill with a touch of pale yellow/orange at the base and tip. The water surrounding the bird is a muted, brownish-green shade with gentle ripples radiating outward from its body and a soft reflection its head.
