I've realised that most of my reads are not exactly cheery. Does anyone have any feel good happy reads to recommend?

Please say no to pesticides and herbicides. Cocktails of these chemicals in fields, gardens, parks, verges and community spaces are poisoning bees, birds, hedgehogs, butterflies, beetles, frogs, damselflies and more, while running off into rivers too. Let's give nature a chance!

Not my favourite Morse. Bodies appearing and quite a bit of supposition on the oart of Morse. I like my detective mysteries with the villains caught bang to rights and clear evidence. Maybe it doesn't always happen like that though. Interesting enough story.

Didn't make church this morning. I'm all peopled out. It's harvest festival service too, one of my favourite services of the year. But church will be packed & I don't think I can talk to people right now. Been such a couple of weeks. I need to batten the hatches and reset. Will catch it online later

It's been a rotten couple of weeks with one thing and another and I'm feeling decidedly meh. Maybe I need to get out for some good long walks in nature next week - barring any other disasters. Look for the positives in the changing seasons hey?

Painting of the day - Journesse Dorée (Gilded youth) by Gerald Leslie Brockhurst.
'Jeunesse Dorée' means 'gilded youth' in French and was a term applied to wealthy and fashionable young society people. For this painting, Brockhurst used the model Kathleen Woodward who he had worked with previously. He went on to marry her in 1947. He painted Woodward, who he called Dorette, many times in the 1930s, often combining a Rennaisance format with Symbolist colours and intensity, as he has done here. This picture was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1934 and the 2nd Lord Leverhulme bought it on the first day of the show.

I see more & more of it. I want to live in a log cabin in the woods miles from the lot of them & just talk to squirrels
