Behold! Yet another book available for preorder! This one has an aroace protagonist, many oddities, and a Very Good Goat. Also kind of my tribute to McKinley’s Spindle’s End, which you should read while you’re waiting.

What I love about this book is that it feels like a guy from a much grittier fantasy series (I have joked to @adamstemple.bsky.social it's a guy from one of his books) wakes up and finds himself in a comedic romance (albeit one with a much higher body count than you'd expect in a romance).

TEENY TINY TOAD ALERT!!!!! It was so small I thought it was a little jumping spider. But I was right next to the creek where the toads mate so I looked more carefully. I can not believe I actually got a decent photo. It was less than a centimeter from nose to butt & ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! #herps 🌿

OMG! @tkingfisher.com got to write this!!
Coverless image for a forthcoming March 9, 2027 book by T. Kingfisher: A Devil of a Crime. ($13.99)
Publisher Description: From New York Times bestselling author T. Kingfisher comes a charming murder mystery about a retired devil & retired angel who must team up to catch a killer stalking their small town – before all Hell breaks loose.

When the murder of a priest rocks a quiet small town in North Carolina, the prime suspect is who else but the local retired agent of hell, Nicholas Fallen.

But Fallen long ago traded his pitchfork for gardening shears and smites only the beetles who try to feast on his carefully cultivated tomato plants.

If the reformed devil is to clear his (relatively) good na,e, he'll have to go pick up the mantle of detective, and partner with the least likely of allies: reitred angel Serafina Fuller.

(not in the image but as part of the description on Apple Books: As more bodies turn up and their dream of a retirement in small-town paradise looks to go up in flames, the two will stop this killer. Come hell or high water. )

the Black Panthers were right
IF YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED IT'S NOT BECAUSE THERE ISNT ANY WORK
JUST LOOK AROUND: A HOUSING SHORTAGE, CRIME, POLLUTION; WE NEED BETTER SCHOOLS AND PARKS.
WHATEVER OUR NEEDS, THEY ALL REQUIRE WORK.
AND AS LONG AS WE HAVE UNSATISFIED NEEDS, THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE.
SO ASK YOURSELE, WHAT KIND OF WORLD HAS WORK BUT NO JOBS. IT'S A WORLD WHERE WORK IS NOT RELATED TO SATISFYING OUR NEEDS, WORLD WHERE WORK IS ONLY RELATED TO SATISFYING THE PROFIT NEEDS OF BUSINESS.
THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT BUILT BY THE HUGE CORPORATIONS OR GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACIES.
IT WAS BUILT BY PEOPLE WHO WORK. AND, IT IS WORKING PEOPLE WHO SHOULD CONTROL THE WORK TO BE DONE. YET, AS LONG AS EMPLOYMENT IS TIED TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROFITS, THE WORK WONT GET DONE.

Oh my GOD King County Public Health is just wilding out for Valentines Day (and a lovely one).
A valentine from Public Health of Seattle and King County. A man shivers in bed while a smiling lady in a red mask shows off her bandage on her arm.

Text: Noses are red
Ice packs are blue
I'm vaxed so miss me with severe symptoms of flu.A valentine from Public Health of Seattle and King County. Two lady scientists shrug lackadaisically. Text reads: My love for you can't be explained by science. Just like the new federal vaccine guidelines.A valentine from Public Health of Seattle and King County. Protesters in Minneapolis wear thick clothes and hold signs of support for immigrant neighbors. Text reads: To the health departments in the Twin Cities:
Love unites us.
Our hearts are with you.

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together. I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.
Image of Charles Darwin quotes, with the recipient of the letter and the date the letter was written. He said "I hate every wave of the ocean" to W.D. Fox on 15 February 1836, "Oh my God how I do hate species and varieties" to J.D. Hooker in 11 March 1858, "I am very tired, very stomachy, and hate nearly the whole world" to Thomas Huxley on 10 September 1860, "I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything" to Charles Lyell on 1 October 1861, "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" to John Lubbock on 3 September 1862, and "I am languid and bedeviled and hate writing and hate everybody" to J.D. Hooker on 23 June 1863.

A digital illustration of an attempt to make a fake illuminated manuscript. There’s a fancy illuminated drop capital M. Lots of medieval-type ornamentation, a little illustration in the corner of a rabbit with a battle ax having some sort of confrontation with a little bipedal lizard thing that has an arm instead of a neck and head which is holding a dagger. There’s an orange dragonish beast wrapped around the top of everything and lettering done in some kind of fanciful script reading ‘Maybe it will happen today’
