Ossoff: "I think Pete Hegseth is frankly a deeply unwell person who seems to relish this kind of brutality all the while he's running a department that is falling into chaos. The guy cannot run the military competently and is spending his time with this kind of obscene medieval spectacle."

A good national year for Dems doesn't erase local frustration, and Minnesota has had a rough few years. So maybe not doom, but a reason not to take this one for granted.

However plenty of Minnesotans can not love Peggy and still vote for her, because control of the Senate is bigger than any one candidate. That's her path, and I think it will take her to a narrow victory.

Apologies for the doom on your timeline today. I still think Peggy wins, but they make a case for why it's close: voters are souring on the Democrats already in power in Minnesota, and she's less liked than Tafoya.

Comments about Peggy's style notwithstanding, this was an interesting discussion on the senate race in MN and is what got me all freaked out. (link should open to discussion with timestamp at 9:15) youtu.be/5wqkn2CsJzY?...

Polls show it to be a very close race, and I believe Tafoya is running a much smarter campaign. I don't think Peggy is doing nearly enough to attack Tafoya and Tafoya is, at least on the surface, appealing greatly to the "moderate" vote. Peggy has been invisible anywhere other than the metro.

Genuinely hope you are correct!

Tafoya is running a pretty damn good campaign and Peggy, well, is not. What a disaster it will be if Minnesotans respond to Metro Surge and political assassinations by electing a Republican Senator.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.
Graphic showing a single lane 9 m wide track for metros, a 35 m wide road for buses with four lanes, and a 175 m wide road for cars with seven lanes, making the point that one single track of Metro replaces seven lanes of car traffic. Mobility in cities is about space.

It is depressing that few public officials are stepping up to defend the university of Minnesota from crippling cuts. Investment in it generates enormous return. You can’t trim 10-15% of the budget and pretend that all will be well. Austerity leads to mediocrity 🤦🏻‍♂️

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

I need put some Minnesota Senate race thoughts into a post that I can reference for out-of-state folks who keep getting this wrong: - Angie Craig is to the right of state DFL and was even before her Laken Riley vote - This is not establishment vs. insurgent. Peggy Flanagan is a two-term Lt. Governor

I went to an event Angie spoke at a couple of years ago and clearly for her it’s a point of pride to piss off progressives. So if you’re a DFLer who wants to be trolled by your own Senator for the next six years, go for it. Otherwise, vote for Peggy, who takes her commitments seriously
