In primary school (1960s), we learned that mountain areas above 3,000 m altitude in the Alps had eternal snow. I'm afraid we're seeing the end of that. Matterhorn, 4,478 m high, last week.

The longer one, Thornton Creek North Fork, starts at 145th and I-5 and crosses the lower 1/3 left corner of the golf course, then travels east and goes a little bit north and exits the map. The other, Little's Creek, clips the right top 1/4 corner of the course.

Expanding unfunded inclusionary zoning taxes to cover middle housing across the entirety of Seattle would render HB1110 functionally inoperative. Perversely, it would also be a dramatic step backward for housing equity, since it would make high-resource neighborhoods even more exclusive.

The only way I will support MHA in NRZ is if it scales to 0% if you maximize the density on the lot 4 or more homes = 0% 3 homes = 20% 2 homes = 30% 1 home = 40% Anything else is a tax deterring housing which we absolutely do not need right now

After a very long debate, this amendment was just APPROVED. The vote was 3-2, with CMs Rinck, Foster and Lin in favor and Saka and Kettle against. There are some outstanding concerns around the amendment's exact language, so I would expect additional tweaks when the bill comes to full council.

Crazy dissonance to say 1)"MHA fees are killing new housing production, we need to reduce it by 80%" and simultaneously 2) "let's expand MHA!" If MHA is a barrier, especially for small projects, why on earth would you extend it to NR zoning where only small infill projects are possible.

NEW: Alexis Mercedes Rinck has proposed an amendment to Rob Saka's SAFER Streets Act that would give the City Traffic Engineer explicit authority to implement street changes in historic districts (Pioneer Square, Pike Place) without getting the approval of the local boards.
Effect: Currently, physical changes in designated historic, special review, and
landmark districts are reviewed by community volunteer boards facilitated through
the Department of Neighborhoods. The authority of the City Traffic Engineer to
construct traffic control devices, such as markers, signs and signal devices, used
to inform, guide and control traffic, including pedestrians, motor vehicle drivers,
and bicyclists, in these areas is unspecified. This amendment would clarify that
the City Traffic Engineer’s authority is over all City right-of-way, including
designated historic, special review, and landmark districts. It would also specify
that traffic control devices in such areas are not subject to landmark designation,
nor do construction of traffic control devices require a Certificate of Approval1. The
amendment allows the Traffic Engineer to coordinate with the Department of
Neighborhoods or the landmark preservation boards to minimize design conflicts
in alignment with the historic, cultural, architectural, or geographic significance of
the district.
