given a quaternion rotation q, q² doubles the rotation √q halves the rotation qˣ scales the rotation by x as a rule of thumb - whatever operator you would use with vectors, like, say, addition, elevate it to the higher order operator (multiplication) to do the same thing on a quaternion

a table comparing vector operations to quaternion operations side by side, highlighting the similarities. the quaternion variants look almost identical, except they use the next higher order operator in each expression. ie: multiplication instead of addition. exponentiation instead of multiplication, etc.

I will say that I'm very glad that @playindies.com has a visible and easily accessible policy on AI but I very strongly do not agree with it. Treating GenAI use as anything short of anathema is giving ground that we cannot afford to lose. I will be deleting my playindies account.

We are not an anti-AI platform. We are fine with AI being used as a tool to aid processes or streamline data-driven workflows. What we do not support is job-replacing generative AI, such as using AI to create final art / audio assets or localize text, for example. We firmly believe these are tasks that humans should be paid for, and we will not support games relying on AI to replace jobs. We do our best to check for this during our manual verification process, but it's inevitable that some games will slip through, so we greatly appreciate any potentially problematic titles being brought to our attention.

We also recognize that generative AI usage isn't always black and white, particularly when it comes to indie development. Many indie developers are working with extremely limited (often non-existent) budgets, so we try to look at how and why these tools are being used rather than treating every use of generative AI equally. For example, a solo developer using generated placeholder art during prototyping because they don't have the budget to commission prototype assets is very different to a funded studio using generated artwork in the final game instead of hiring an artist. The same can apply to temporary audio or UI assets, internal concept exploration, coding assistance, debugging, workflow tools, or other uses that help a small team get through development without replacing paid creative work in the finished product. There are a lot of grey areas here, which is why we review these situations on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is ultimately to support indie developers while drawing a firm line at generative AI being used as a replacement for people's jobs.

also, just saying: i think a lot of people need to recognize that spoofing verification isn't some get-out-of-jail-free card by signaling to discord that you verified your age, you are encouraging their systems, whether you like it or not 👍 (and yes, this applies to what happened back in february)

Could bypassing/spoofing be bad?
If you intend to not use Discord's age verification because you believe it is not a good precedent, and you want to ensure that Discord cannot say you used age verification in its engagement statistics and legal cases, you should not spoof / bypass age verification. Discord sees spoofed verification the same as normal verification; if they didn't, it wouldn't work at all. Should you want to stick by your morals, you should instead use Discord as you usually would, while getting around the small restrictions in other ways.
