Most of the techniques I’ve seen for procedural planet surface LODing uses quadtrees, I wonder whether octrees would be better 🤔 They definitely would if you plan on making planet surfaces editable

So for my little side project here I will be using the “sphered cube“ technique, but I also want the poles of the planets to be colder than the equators… I may need to do rough plate techtonics simulation to generate the rough heightmap, not sure 🤔

So yeah, after thinking a while, my current approach for refactoring Inochi2D parameters is flawed, bilinear interpolation can be expressed as weights towards each vertex, but I’m not actually sure arbitrary N-splines can as the resulting weights might not sum to 1?
