since people continue to spread misinformation about this, I decided to test it proper: I made an alt and verified it into the Adult age group, yet it still did not receive the FanDuel Quest (a gambling quest which is age restricted)

An alt account named "meow" does not have access to an age-restricted Quest, despite the fact it is marked as being in the Adult age group.

Do you need to verify to access any features?

If no or unsure: No Verification
Pros: Privacy / security, guarantee no additional data sent.
Cons: Features

Use Discord as normal, and you can use Spoiler Channels as alternatives to age-restricted ones, open media externally, or have client mods remove restrictions.
Don't verify if you don't need to, as verifying tells Discord that the Age Verification system works; they'll use it in engagement statistics.

If you need to verify:
Your account could be automatically verified based on account age, payment method, servers you're in, and account activity (NOT MESSAGES).

If it's not, then:
Are you comfortable using k-ID?

Facial Age Estimation
Verify with an on-device model determining your age based on your face.
Pros: Selfie not sent
Cons: Can fail; device metadata shared

Credit Card
Use your existing credit card to verify your age. (via k-ID / Stripe)
Pros: Little data risk
Cons: Req. having and sharing card info
Note: k-ID offers "AgeKey" which lets you reuse these verification results in the future.

Alternatively, does your phone have identification in a digital wallet, or proof of age through app stores?

If so:

Passport in Google Wallet (Android):
Uses your phone's stored passport to verify your age.
Pros: No additional data shared to Discord
Cons: data shared with Google; Android only

Google Play Store / Apple App Store with payment method/identification:
Uses OS-side signals in Age Range to check your age.
Pros: Only shares age range
Cons: Req. verifying on OS, cannot be manually set; mobile only

If those aren't an option, you'll need to submit an ID to k-ID.
Pros: Claims to delete after processing
Cons ID is processed server side

Discord Support Portal isn't offered as an option anymore.
It was offered in the past if other methods failed. This was what leaked.

Note: Sending your ID is a security risk. Consider a previous step if possible, or re-evaluate doing verification at all.

Yes, but they're not rolling out this verification system for that purpose.

In fact, going through age verification doesn't even guarantee you receive Quests that are age restricted; as of now, Discord determines eligibility for age-gated advertisements through their automatic age estimation tool, which is based on signals like your play activity. You can verify this by checking the data package of an account that's not receiving 18+ Quests yet is verified to be an adult. Essentially, Discord only serves advertisements if they can guess that you're of age to view them.

some small addendums: - it seems if you spoofed/bypassed age verification with a tool in february, you still keep your verification - I have added a script to the article to check how your verification was determined (via estimation or manually)

also, just saying: i think a lot of people need to recognize that spoofing verification isn't some get-out-of-jail-free card by signaling to discord that you verified your age, you are encouraging their systems, whether you like it or not 👍 (and yes, this applies to what happened back in february)

Could bypassing/spoofing be bad?
If you intend to not use Discord's age verification because you believe it is not a good precedent, and you want to ensure that Discord cannot say you used age verification in its engagement statistics and legal cases, you should not spoof / bypass age verification. Discord sees spoofed verification the same as normal verification; if they didn't, it wouldn't work at all. Should you want to stick by your morals, you should instead use Discord as you usually would, while getting around the small restrictions in other ways.

lot of people seem to share the sentiment that the dreamland-dome in kirby and the world beyond's trailer is meant to be truman-esque? i don't agree with that most of the trailer is there, it seems pretty big with unique collectibles, and lore-wise kirby wouldn't be there without realizing it
