the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

The grammatical 'colon' and the anatomical 'colon' are not etymologically related. The anatomical 'colon' comes from the Greek ‘kolon’ which means “large intestine.” The grammatical 'colon' comes from the Greek ‘kōlon’ which means “limb.” Both are a means to an end.

Face blindness is also a very useful thing in this specific situation. If someone changes their hair then as far as my brain is concerned they are an entirely new person and it's as easy to learn a new name as remember the old one

Does anyone have a Photoshop equivalent recommendation? I used to use Affinity but since they merged with Canva it's now overly complicated and full of AI bullshit. I want Libre Office for photos essentially. Just basic editing and drawing functions without it being a pain to use.

I was tempted to pirate HP, curiosity and all that. But @jessiegender.bsky.social is right - think of the amount of times HBO commented on GOT leaks and downloads, just as an example. They DO track these things, and even that drives interest. Let this show die. Trans people deserve better.

Empire Records (1995) has about six interwoven versions of (1), a single version of (2) (Rex Manning, although arguably Rex’s assistant too) and pivots to (3) in the last part of the film. This is why it is one of the all-time greats.

Got given these when I was like five on the grounds that "sure doesn't she read way above her age level?" I spent the next month sleeping under my bed in the hopes that if any giants or witches peeked in the window they would think my sister in the top bunk just had a bunkbed for friends to visit.
The cover for Roald Dahl's The Witches. A woman in black raising her hands in the air, surrounded by bald women looking up at her reverently. The cover for Roald Dahl's The BFG. An enormous goofy looking dude sitting on a boulder. In one hand he has a stick, in the other a little girl in a nightie with whom he appears to be chatting away happily.

Please enjoy this absolute vision of royalty we met on our walk today. Yes, that is a flipping pearl choker she's wearing in lieu of a collar.
A cream and tan cavapoo(cross between a poodle and a cavalier king Charles spaniel) sitting on her human's lap and gazing regally into the middle distance. She is wearing a collar studded with a double row of pearls, which I can only assume based on her general vibe are entirely authentic and definitely not fake.

Happy Michaelmas! In some parts of Ireland on this day, rent could be paid in geese. If you’re due to pay rent this month, please consider setting a very irritated goose on your landlord in lieu of payment, in the name of upholding important Irish traditions.
A drawing of mine of a goose looking concerned, with a tag around its neck that reads "This month's rent, with thanks".

Just to say what complete scumbags the FAI and Micheál Martin are for putting Irish players in this position.
Tweet from Daniel Lambert, September 26th: Hearing from several sources around Ireland hotel that agents are telling players you must play our you'll never play for a US owned team in the UK.

How grim and predictable from faceless agents who profit in the background.
