He truly believes that because Putin and Xi put on a show for him that they are his allies. He's childlike and gullible even as he is unspeakably brutal and corrupt. What a horrifying combination. And such a mark for powerful leaders who are smarter than him. Which would be all of them.

What a lede ☠️ www.washingtonsun.com/sports/washi...
As soon as the clock hit zero, Dan Quinn ripped the headset off his backwards-ballcapped head and spiked it to the turf, in much the same way a well-prepared quarterback of a well-coached team might be expected to do with the football, when his team is out of timeouts and well within range of a game-winning field goal in the final, ticking seconds of a critical NFL game.

This is correct, but...tomorrow's news today: This will 100% not happen & all the post-mortems will either be about (1/good) how it was individual personalities & not structural factors (e.g., Talarico if he wins) or (2/bad) how Dems' messaging & policies were too lefty (e.g., AES if he loses)

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.
