Does Jonathan Greenblatt think that being the leader of the Jewish state confers some sort of ontological state of permanent protection against committing war crimes?
Tweet from Jonathan Greenblatt: "These are fraught times and there are so many symptoms of our intensifying madness.

For example, comparing democratically elected Members of Congress to terrorists and labeling one of our two leading political parties as Hamas - a terrorist org responsible for the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust - is deeply dangerous and totally unhelpful.

At the same time, slandering the elected leader of the Jewish state as a "war criminal" is outrageous. It distorts reality and achieves nothing other than inflaming all sides.

All Members of Congress should care less about scoring points and focus way more energy on building bridges. The American people need you to work together so we can confront the real threats facing our country and the Jewish community. Doing your jobs should not be too much to ask."

“It depends if you look Hispanic.” From Forbes: www.forbes.com/sites/stuart...
Two weeks have passed since a Florida Highway Patrol officer arrested the Honduran immigrant client of Magdalena Cuprys of Cuprys & Associates. “He was stopped at a weigh station in Tampa because he owns a construction company, and he was required to stop for his truck to be weighed,” Cuprys told me. “The client had a valid Florida driver’s license. The patrol officer called Customs and Border Protection on him. The client called me, and the officer took the phone from him and spoke with me.”

She asked why CBP was alerted. “I was advised that the client looked Hispanic, had a Hispanic name, and now they are collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and CBP, and their orders are to call CBP any time they encounter anyone they suspect is an immigrant,” said Cuprys. “I asked if they would have followed the same process if it had been me driving, and the response was it depends if you look Hispanic.”

Tbh, I think the problem here is less the Democratic Party and more the "centrist" media. Like, Dean Phillips is not currently elected to anything, and he is actually pretty disliked by the Democratic establishment for being a rat. Why are they interviewing him except to push an agenda?

Everyone like this needs to be hounded out of the Democratic Party. These are people who genuinely believe a permanent Trump/GOP trifecta is a better outcome than policy being slightly left of their preferences. They are a major reason why millions of people who agree with Dems don't bother to vote.
@Acyn
Question: Is there room for you and Mamdani in the Democratic Party?

Phillips: The answer, ultimately, I think, is no

When you have socialists in the Democratic Party, I don't know how anybody could argue that that would be beneficial for the party or for the country

Every American should read this ACLU lawsuit about what is happening in Los Angeles and California. It is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. This is not immigration enforcement. It is positively stuffed with videos and articles documenting racial profiling on a scale unseen since Jim Crow.

Police who keep their identities secret are, quite literally, secret police. I don’t know why this is even controversial. You don’t get to yank people off the streets while hiding your face and identity and still retain the respectability of an accountable, democratic police force.

At the DeSantis Everglades detention camp, people with green cards are being held in terrible conditions, with maggots in the food, the lights kept on 24 hours a day, and delayed access to medicine. One guy had his Bible taken and was told "here there is no right to religion."
"I am Leamsy La Figura. We've been here at Alcatraz since Friday. There's over 400 people here. There's no water to take a bath, it's been four days since I've taken a bath," he said.

He claimed the food at the immigration facility is scarce and unsanitary.

"They only brought a meal once a day and it had maggots. They never take off the lights for 24 hours. The mosquitoes are as big as elephants," La Figura said.

Detainees say rights are being violated
Other detainees echoed La Figura's concerns, alleging violations of their basic rights.

"They're not respecting our human rights," one man said during the same call. "We're human beings; we're not dogs. We're like rats in an experiment."

"I don't know their motive for doing this, if it's a form of torture. A lot of us have our residency documents and we don't understand why we're here," he added.

A third detainee, who said he is Colombian, described deteriorating mental health and lack of access to necessary medical care.

"I'm on the edge of losing my mind. I've gone three days without taking my medicine," he said. "It's impossible to sleep with this white light that's on all day."

He also claimed his Bible was confiscated.

"They took the Bible I had and they said here there is no right to religion. And my Bible is the one thing that keeps my faith, and now I'm losing my faith," he said.

Reports that a Canadian citizen who has resided in the US since age 10 was abducted at a green card interview. Her husband is begging ICE to let him fly her back to Canada and they refuse to release her.
Cynthia Olivera is a Canadian who’s been living in the US since she was 10

She’s in ICE custody, after being grabbed at her green card interview.

The 45 year old wife & mother has been moved between facilities while her husband begs ICE to let her get on a plane to Canada. 🧵

They’re willing to pay. She’s willing to leave. But she can’t escape.

This is why we call them concentration camps.

There’s no due process. Some people go in and never come out.

One incredibly bad aspect of climate change is that arid soil absorbs less water. So shifting to a pattern where annual precipitation volume remains steady, but arrives in shorter bursts means flooding becomes much worse

Absolutely dangerous and insane that we're letting this happen. The courts letting Trump do this in L.A. in response to minor unrest -- and where Marines are *still* activated -- has emboldened him to do it everywhere. This is a clear, unambiguous breach of a founding democratic principle.

Question: does it make America great again to deport a guy who’s willing to run into the ocean where a shark is prowling to save a child and chase away the shark?
Days before his arrest, on June 11, 9-year-old Leah Lendel was snorkeling in Boca Grande when she was attacked by a shark. She nearly lost her hand, but it was successfully reattached after quick actions from
bystanders and an airlift to a Tampa hospital.
Her family said in a statement at the time that nearby construction workers helped them make a tourniquet to stop the blood loss and dial 911. One of the men who helped, Raynel Lugo, told Fox 4 News that Alvarez ran into the water to try and scare away the shark and bring Leah's sister to shore. "He's a real decent guy, a family guy," he told the station.

The modern US right was built out of outraged responses to a handful of stories about federal actions like Ruby Ridge & Waco. What we're witnessing with these vicious ICE attacks is dozens of sadistic, draconian, & often fatal actions PER DAY, & it's that same US right that's now cheering them on.
