Writing code is now cheap but acquiring customers is not. New app submissions to Apple’s App Store are up almost 100% from 600K in 2025 to 560K so far in 2026. However app downloads are only up 2%. AI has led to a lot of new apps but not much more usage. This pattern will repeat across industries.
