Any claims that Reform is a party for “ordinary people” are laughable when two billionaires have donated £72 million to the party within 24 hours - on top of the £33 million they had previously given. Let’s call it what it is: elites looking to expand their wealth and power. [1/2]

📢BIG HOUSING NEWS this morning as the government confirms the first major allocations of its Social Affordable Homes Programme. £9.6bn affordable homes funding has been awarded to strategic partners to support the delivery of more than 73,000 much-needed social and affordable homes across England.
Picture of Gavin Smart, CIH Chief Executive with a quote that says: "It's very welcome to see funding from last year's Spending Review now being allocated and getting into the hands of strategic partners across the country, turning the government's long-term commitment into homes that can make a real difference for families."

Short version:
People talk about an institution like Harvard withdrawing a speaking invitation as if it were shutting access to the marketplace of ideas. Except Harvard isn’t the marketplace. YouTube is the marketplace, and you’re welcome to set up your stall there and hawk your wares. Harvard is supposed to be Neiman Marcus or Harrods. You have to earn a place on their shelves because their customers trust them to curate quality. If they discover the shoes you’re selling leak in the winter and hate black people all year round, they’re perfectly entitled to kick you out of their collection.

Grenfell cladding firm Arconic paid shareholders $31m more in compensation than to fire victims
Report’s author said findings highlighted ‘near-total failure’ to hold corporations accountable over the disaster that killed 72 people The company behind Grenfell Tower’s flammable cladding gave more compensation to its shareholders than to victims of the disaster, an investigation has found. Arconic, which made and sold the cladding panels found to be the “primary cause” of the rapid spread of the Grenfell fire, paid $74m to its shareholders for economic loss they incurred after the blaze. “alleged asylum seekers”, fucking hell
Crowds also attempted to storm homes linked to alleged asylum seekers on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Police removed some people from inside a property on Thursday evening.
When responding to claims the evacuated homes were housing asylum seekers, Norfolk's chief constable Paul Sanford told the BBC: "On some of the occasions that absolutely was the case.
"We did have people protesting in the Thetford area who were targeting addresses they believed housed asylum seekers and on a couple of occasions that required us to escort the residents of those properties away for their safety."
