Great to catch up with Trevor Rose and the team at Community Recording Studios, a creative space in St Ann’s where young people can learn music and video skills. In the over thirty years that it’s been running, CRS has produced some of our city’s greatest talent - from Young T & Bugsey to Jah Digga.

This is a positive and important step. Rape victims are being failed by our criminal justice system in so many ways. They shouldn't have to wait years for their cases to be heard and every aspect should be trauma-informed as standard. 1/2 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Selling off our social housing was always an ideologically-driven policy. It has proven to be a disaster, fuelling the housing crisis we have today. I welcome the Social Housing Bill, which will curb the Thatcher-era Right To Buy policy, but the government must go further and abolish it completely.

Any claims that Reform is a party for “ordinary people” are laughable when two billionaires have donated £72 million to the party within 24 hours - on top of the £33 million they had previously given. Let’s call it what it is: elites looking to expand their wealth and power. [1/2]

My statement on the Nottingham Inquiry as it concludes its submission stage.
As the Nottingham Inquiry concludes its submission stage, the picture that emerges is one of catastrophic failures across multiple public institutions that led to Valdo Calocane killing Barnaby Webber, Grace O'Malley-Kumar, and lan Coates and seriously injuring three others on 13 June 2023.
I do not want to pre-empt the findings, but the evidence submitted makes clear that our under-resourced mental health services are failing people with the most complex needs, including the small minority of those at risk of becoming violent, and that the safeguards meant to protect the public are woefully lacking.
We must not wait for this inquiry to conclude before tackling issues we already know exist inside our public institutions, both in Nottingham and across large parts of the country, especially in relation to mental health provision.
I want to pay tribute to the families of the victims and the survivors, who have pushed for this inquiry while going through unimaginable grief. The new evidence submitted and its findings will be essential in guiding what happens next. It is vital that the inquiry marks the start of delivering real accountability and meaningful change.

The Conservatives’ plan to cut Local Housing Allowance and reinstate the two-child benefit cap to fund defence spending is immoral. It would deepen poverty and make thousands of people homeless overnight. As the PM said in PMQs today, national security cannot come at the expense of social security.

Joint statement from Nottingham MPs on the City Ground redevelopment plans ❤️🌳
We support Nottingham Forest Football Club's redevelopment plans for the City Ground. This is a historic opportunity to celebrate and preserve our city's proud heritage as home to a world-famous club, while boosting our local economy and creating well-paid, unionised jobs.
The case for a bigger stadium has been clear for years: six consecutive seasons of sold-out games have meant that many thousands of local fans cannot see their team play on home turf, including a whole new generation of young supporters.
Greater capacity will enable NFFC to host major international matches in future tournaments, strengthening our visitor economy by firmly putting Nottingham back on the map as a legendary football city.
We were particularly excited to hear Mayor Claire Ward describe these proposals as integral to a wider development of a Trent Sports District. Sports investment is vital to improving community cohesion and wellbeing.
We recognise the importance of addressing the transport demands associated with an expanded stadium and trust partners will work together to agree a solution that works for everyone.
