It’s one month since the disaster on the Nepal-China border. The media’s focus has moved on. It's yesterday's news. At least 1,450 lives lost, and over 5,700 still missing. Climate change was a key contributing factor. Our addiction to fossil fuels makes these events more likely. #greensky #nzpol

Submission, um, submitted on the Definitions of Woman and Man Bill. Let's put an end to this farcical distraction. Thanks to @nicgaston.bsky.social for the reminder. #nzpol
"I oppose this Bill in its entirety.
It does nothing to address obvious, major issues affecting women, such as the ongoing lack of pay equity in the workplace or the epidemic of violence against women.
It simply does not offer meaningful additional protection to women. Senior lawyers have noted that the Bill would have little practical effect on existing rules around topics like sex discrimination, or even criminal laws. Barrister Graeme Edgeler, for example, said “Laws you might expect to be affected … [such as] the Human Rights Act … just don’t use any of the words the bill actually proposes to define” (source: Stuff, 10 April 2026).
In fact this Bill could have quite the opposite effect for women. It appears to encourage policing of both sex and gender in a way which would be extremely unhelpful.
Thus, this Bill is completely unnecessary and does not deliver any material benefit. It is a waste of Parliament’s valuable time and resources. It is an attempt to create division in society, to harm members of the community who are non-binary and transgender, and to divert the public’s attention from issues which need focus such as climate change, poverty, the broken housing market and New Zealand’s chronically low productivity. No-one is being harmed by people who are non-binary being recognised by the Government and by the legal system. This Bill is extremely disappointing and I reject it completely.
I recommend the Bill be withdrawn as a matter of priority."

This might be one of the funniest chart about energy scenarios I’ve seen. You can hardly see “actual” for gas
Winners and Losers
The IEA overestimated gas growth in Asia and underestimated solar

Gas
• Forecast 547 TWh
• Actual 17 TWh

Solar
• Forecast 465 TWh
• Actual 1,333 TWh

Note: Shows expected growth in Asian power generation between 2018 and 2025, based on actual 2018 generation, actual 2025 generation, and the 2018 World Energy Outlook's Current Policies Scenario estimates for 2025. Actual 2025 generation figures are from Ember.
