RESEARCH | M Giera, @rikvanderkant.bsky.social et al (LUMC, VU; NL) Neurolipid Atlas- lipidomic insights into neurodegenerative diseases e.g. cholesterol's role in Alzheimer’s disease 🧪

The Neurolipid Atlas: a lipidomics resource for neurodegenerative diseases - Nature Metabolism
The authors introduce the Neurolipid Atlas, a dynamic resource for the community to gain insight into lipid alterations in neurodegenerative disease, and they leverage the platform to show how cholesterol alterations in astrocytes can dysregulate neuroinflammatory pathways in Alzheimer disease.

Introducing the Neurolipid Atlas: a new resource for brain lipid research and neurodegenerative diseases | Amsterdam UMC
Altered lipid metabolism in the brain is a key feature of many neurodegenerative diseases, yet comparing lipid data across studies has remained a challenge. To address this, Femke Feringa, Sascha Koppes-den Hertog, and Rik van der Kant, together with team of Martin Giera at LUmc, have developed the Neurolipid Atlas.

🧪New preprint🔬🧫 Not all lipid droplets are created equal! 💥 APOE shapes the LD proteome & lipidome in astrocytes; it’s the dynamics that distinguish E2 protection from E4 risk. Led by Carla Cuni-Lopez w/ CARD proteomics, Giera lab & @rikvanderkant.bsky.social 📄 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

APOE genotypes differentially remodel the astrocytic lipid droplet-associated proteome to shape lipid droplet dynamics
The lipids and proteins that comprise lipid droplets regulate several cellular functions including lipid storage, stress responses, and inflammation. Glial lipid droplets have been implicated in the p...

Thrilled to share my first first-author paper is out @cp-neuron.bsky.social! We show that Alzheimer's disease protective CLU alleles upregulate CLU in response to neuropathology, dampening inflammatory signaling between microglia and astrocytes. Read here www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Genetic studies implicate clusterin (CLU) in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), yet its precise molecular impact remains unclear. Through u…
