Renee Good's family filed two lawsuits today. The first, against, USG, is a standard wrongful death. The second is a Klan Act lawsuit against Jonathan Ross, AND STEPHEN MILLER and Greg Bovino. It names Nick Shirley and Christopher Rufo as non-party co-conspirators for their racist propaganda.
44. At all relevant times, Defendants Ross, Miller, Noem, Lyons, Homan,
Bovino, and the John Doe Federal Agents acted under color of federal law and within the
scope of a joint enterprise with the private actors described below. Defendant
Lewandowski acted in part under color of federal law and in part, as alleged below, as a
private person, his federal status having been limited to a temporary part-time designation
that his conduct exceeded. Shirley, Rufo, and Ben Bergquam, and the other non-party
private actors described below, agreed to and in fact participated in the conspiracy alleged
here: each acted in concert with, and with the knowledge and encouragement of, federal
officials.

America today is a country where regulators won't allow private companies to air interviews of the opposition on TV, but declare that taxpayer funded propaganda is fine.

The other thing that Gov. Cox “expanded” is the Utah Supreme Court, adding two seats after his political party lost a big redistricting case.

Why has the GOP been so procedurally extreme for so long? Because Republicans radicalized themselves against the government they were working within. There was a real logic to it, quite apart from the awful substantive vision. Now, Dems are working in a government fully corrupted by Donald Trump...

It's a dagger pointed at the heart of MAGA because The Thing that attracted so many of them to Trump was QAnon. It turns out there was, in fact, a cabal of pedos running the country. They're just all working for the Trump administration.

Lanae Erickson at Third Way said “practice saying ‘I trust parents in my district to make decisions for their kids more than politicians.’ Practice saying, ‘sure, we need rules but politicians aren’t the right ones to make it.’” This is basically how Democrats talk about abortion rights post Dobbs

Between 29 and 35 percent of the American citizenry is too fucking ignorant to operate a republic. As Churchill noted, democracy is the worst form of government there is -- until you consider every alternative. It's hard, quotidian labor to self-govern, so the worst of us are exploring alternatives.

A useful way to think about it is to imagine a republican candidate saying one thing that you liked, agreeing with you on exactly one issue. That would totally work, right? Donald Trump announces he’s for one thing you are also for and then you vote for him. See how stupid it sounds.

A mostly invisible force shaping politics in the Trump era—esp since 2025—is his ability to summon threats of violence & death against his opponents to such a degree it's become a material factor in political actors' decision making. I think a good term for this is "stochastic brownshirtism."

Dear Democrats, You will never be able to triangulate your way through racism/sexism/transphobia, because pushing a lighter, politer form of bigotry is always a lose-lose proposition. The bigots want the uncut stuff, while normal people aren't drawn to cowards who sell out. Stand your ground.
